This 6 Days Uganda Safari focuses primarily on gorilla trekking and game viewing experiences. The tour starts with a game viewing encounter in Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to more than 95 species of mammals, including the rare tree-climbing lions. Experience the best of Uganda’s most diverse park on a guided game drive along the Kasenyi track and a boat tour on the Kazinga channel.

From Queen Elizabeth NP connect to Bwindi with a short game drive via Ishasha. Bwindi, which is situated in Kanungu, shelters at least 50% of the current 1063 mountain gorillas. The Park is home to 24 habituated gorilla group families with each to be trekked by a maximum of 8 guests.

Day 1: Arrival & Pickup by Rivo Safaris guide

Meet Rivo Safaris’ expert at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe City. At the hotel, you will have a short briefing with our representative where you get to know more about your travel plan, especially what awaits you. The entire evening will be spent relaxing in a hotel in Entebbe City.

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park by driver guide from Rivo Safaris

Leave Entebbe for Queen Elizabeth National Park, about a 7-hour drive via the Fort Portal route. Enjoy the countryside’s breathtaking views of the landscape, including the lush tea farms, and at Kikorongo, you will have the opportunity to take photos at the new Equator monument. From the Equator crossing, proceed up to your pre-booked lodge around the park or inside.

Queen Elizabeth National Park lies in Kasese and is Uganda’s premier wildlife destination to explore the Big game animals. The park expands over 1978 sq. km and is a recognized UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with more than 95 mammal species.

Day 3: Game drives & Boat Cruise experiences

Embark on a journey to discover Queen Elizabeth National Park’s plains on a game drive with an expert. Explore the wonders along the Kasenyi plains in a classic 4WD car and expect to find diversity of wildlife, including buffaloes, lions, hyenas, antelopes, and other mammals. Return from Kasenyi plains game viewing to have lunch, and after, you will be transferred to Kazinga Channel. At the Kazinga channel, get briefed by the park official about your boat excursion, especially on safety measures, and also get your safety gear.

Take a boat along the Kazinga channel for 2-3 hours while you watch the aquatic species. A variety of water species will be found, including hippos, crocodiles, and birds. After your exciting excursion on the Kazinga channel, return and be transferred to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Pick up & transfer to Bwindi, en route tour at the Ishasha

After breakfast, drive to Bwindi National Park, and this is likely to take you 6 hours to reach your lodge. Enjoy the countryside’s breathtaking landscapes, including the Ishasha plains, with a higher chance to watch the tree climbing lions and other numerous wildlife. On arrival at the Northern end of Bwindi, check in your lodge and have a long evening for relaxation.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking tour & Batwa cultural excursion around Bwindi

Visit the Buhoma trailhead and meet the park official to take you through the gorilla trekking regulations. Also, expect to have a gorilla group and a ranger guide to accompany you. At Buhoma, you will be visiting one of the gorilla groups, either the historic Mubare gorilla family or any depending on the park official allocation. At around 8:00 am, you will embark on the actual action-packed trekking session to locate a group of these large apes. Buhoma’s gorilla trek will last for 2-6 hours, but can be less or more depending on the location of the gorillas and your walking speed.

A maximum of 1-hour will be spared for photographing gorillas and observing their daily behaviors. Later, you will walk back to the visitor reception, where the official provides a gorilla trekking certificate, and then you continue up to the lodge for leisure time.

The afternoon program will cover the Batwa pygmy cultural experience, and here, expect to learn more about the Batwa cultures and traditions.

Day 6: Travel back to Kampala or Entebbe city by road

Today, you will be returning to Entebbe or Kampala, and this will be by road. Expected insights en route include lunch break at Mbarara city and a second photography session, but today, it will be at the Kayabwe Equator crossing.
